Pod

The Pod at The Village

The Pod is a 4-week support group for breastfeeding mothers who are seeking a safe, intimate space in which to connect and share experiences of early parenthood. The first days, weeks, and months with a new baby are filled with many highs and lows. The 4-week format will focus on this delicate transition to parenthood and will include the following topics:

Week 1: Introductions and birth/breastfeeding stories
Week 2: Processing the emotions of parenthood

(the baby blues, highs and lows including expectations and disappointments)
Week 3: Taking Care - Balancing self-care and baby care
Week 4: Managing relationships and role transitions with partner and family

The Pod is facilitated by Sarah Hastings, MSW, IBCLC 
Open to new mothers who have a baby between 0-6 months. 
A new 4-week Pod will begins the first week of each month.

Meet Up is a safe place for mothers to get feeding support (pumping/breastfeeding/chestfeeding/supplementing), as well as develop friendship & community. Meet Up is an open discussion of feeding, parenting, sleep and any other new parent topics. Your 1st group is always free. Use code: FIRST-FREE when registering.

We know the process of returning to work as a breastfeeding parent can be overwhelming. Let us help you to create a plan for your return to work based upon your work environment and schedule. Class will also include tips for bottle-feeding, work/life balance, supporting milk supply and any other questions participants may have.

Feel like your baby doesn’t like “tummy time”? Looking for a way to connect with your baby & foster movement and development? Concerned about head turning preference or “flat spots”? Join Angela Selkregg licensed Occupational Therapist for the TummyTime! Method. Caregivers will learn about & practice: tummy time, relaxation techniques, massage, calming techniques & various activities for engagement & connection. The class is open to babies 3weeks-precrawling. Class size limited.

In this class, you will learn and practice head to toe infant massage strokes to help soothe your baby's tummy troubles, relieve muscle tension, and improve sleep patterns. Massage also decreases stress levels in you and your baby and supports your early bonding experience through positive touch. This class is led by Hannah DeSantis, licensed occupational therapist and Certified Educator of Infant Massage. This class is recommended for babies 4 weeks-4 months old.

When should I start solids? What foods should I offer? What do I need to know about food allergies? What are the best utensils, highchairs and cups? How do I figure out a mealtime schedule? Join us for answers to all these questions and more! Tovah Feehan is a Speech-Language Pathologist, Feeding Therapist and Owner of Pediatric Feeding Partners in Haddon Heights, NJ. She is passionate about empowering parents with the knowledge and tools to promote a joyful family mealtime.

This class will focus on teaching CPR techniques for Infants and Children (we will touch briefly upon CPR for Adults). We will also be going over choking/breathing emergencies, as well as addressing drowning emergencies and basic first aid. This class is designed for expecting parents, parents, caregivers and grandparents. THIS IS NOT A CERTIFICATION CLASS. Additional participant can be added at discounted rate of $30/person *Non-mobile infants are welcome to attend with their caregivers.

This 4-week Baby + Me group, led by Paula Bradley, MOT, OTR/L, Maternal + Pediatric Occupational Therapist is for babies ages 3-7 months old and their caregivers. We will focus on developmental milestones, play ideas, and connecting with other parents/caregivers. Week 1: Sensory play and sensory systems Part 1. Week 2: Sensory play and sensory systems Part 2. Week 3: Developmental Milestones + Activities Week 4: Motor Skills Development Saturdays 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9 at 11:00am

Baby & Me Yoga

Wednesdays 11:30am with Jamie

Our weekly Baby & Me Yoga Class focuses on gentle yoga for mind-body wellness along with  baby bonding time. We'll practice poses with babies on the mat, in our arms, or option for baby wearing. It's a great way to connect with your little one and others on the parenthood journey! Class is for caregivers with babies (up to pre-crawling.) No yoga experience necessary.  We suggest bringing a baby blanket + yoga mat. Pre-reg required.

Yoga for Motherhood

Whether you have a 6-month-old or a 16-year-old, it is essential to surround yourself with community and seek outlets to rest and restore.

Our weekly Yoga for Motherhood Class is an opportunity for mothers to share thoughts and experiences, followed by yoga, breath-work, + meditation - giving time and space for just you. Class is suitable for all stages of motherhood, including pregnancy + early postpartum.  Beginner-friendly. Pre-reg required.

Postpartum Wellness Workshops at The Village:

Retrain your core + pelvic floor to improve function, ease tension and build overall postural support. In this workshop, we'll discuss how the core + pelvic floor work together and learn simple yet effective exercises for everyday movement & fitness prep for postpartum care. This workshop is designed for postpartum at any stage. Non-mobile babies are welcome to attend with parent. Instructor: Carrie Randazzo, LMT, R-EYT, R-PYT, CES: Pelvic Floor & Diastais Recti Corrective Exercise Specialist

Sunday, October 20th 12:30pm This afternoon retreat will be an opportunity to learn about the concept of matrescence, which is defined as the physical, psychological and emotional changes one goes through when becoming a mother. We will use this framing to reflect on your unique experience of motherhood and your personal identity through journal prompts, group discussion, light yoga asana and meditation.- Led by Julie Anne West, LPC Please bring a notebook & pen for journaling. Option to bring your own yoga mat.

Tots & Family Yoga at The Village:

Playfully practice toddler-friendly yoga poses while standing, sitting, walking, crawling, + jumping. Enjoy fun yoga games - singing, breathing & moving while improving motor skills + body awareness. Nurture esteem, creativity, + bonding, in a fun + supportive environment. Class participation is designed for child (crawlers - 4yo) w/ caregiver. We suggest BYO yoga mat. Class is 50 minutes. $22 (weekly class package can be applied.) Additional child: $8 (up to 2 children for each caregiver.)

Postpartum Massage at The Village 

Our postpartum massage and bodywork sessions focus on the new mom’s well-being. Sessions incorporate a range of techniques to help ease the nervous system, alleviate muscle soreness, stabilize weight-bearing joints, restore postural balance and overall relaxation. This can also be a time to assist with scar tissue release from a c section and gentle abdominal massage for core function.
